8 Ways to Increase Movement

I’m sure you have all heard “take the stairs” instead of the lift,  or get off  the bus a station earlier. Well its written here just as a reminder 

  1. You should ALWAYS take the stairs when they are available. or more importantly take any opportunity of movement when possible.
  2. When you get a phone call try standing up and walk around if your able to while your on the phone.
  3. Switch up your commute to work. By swiping the car for public transport which may include a walk to the station, or maybe even ride your bike if you live close to work.
  4.  Calf rises while you sit! yep just by flexing your ankles and rising your calf you increase blood flow to your legs! This is a natural pumping mechanism that occurs when we walk naturally.
  5. This one is for the ladies pelvic floor exercises while your sitting! If you haven’t heard of the Kegal app.  It’s a guided pelvic floor application that is a free download and you can use while you work! No one knows your doing them!
  6.  Drink plenty of water this keeps your muscles hydrated and causes them to relax. Increasing your daily H2O  also works the bladder that forces you to get up and walk to the bathroom!
  7.  Keeping track of how many steps you have taken is always a great way motivate you to keep moving and holds you accountable. You can use your phone, Fitbit or ask us for a free pedometer next time you come in for your adjustment and monitor how many steps your taking. However you choose to monitor your daily steps you should aim to reach 10,000 steps daily.  
  8. Regular exercise!  There really is only two ways to reverse the side effects of sitting and that’s through standing and exercise!
